Patricia Metola


Madrid (Spain) / 1974
Art Director and Illustrator

Patricia studied Graphic Design at Tracor Art School and worked as an Art Director at Wysiwyg and Organicfields until 2009. That same year, after attending the Bologna Children’s Book Fair, she decided to focus entirely on children’s literature. She continued her training with renowned artists such as Isol, Kveta Pacovská and Kitty Crowther.

Her first books were selected for the Illustrators Exhibition at the Bologna Children’s Book Fair in 2010 and 2011. Since then she has illustrated more than twenty titles published in several countries. Her work has received international recognition, including a White Ravens Award (Munich) for Apple and Magnolia and a Cuatrogatos Award (New York) for Piara..

She has illustrated for Museo Reina Sofía in Madrid and has exhibited her work at Museo ABC, the Biblioteca Nacional de España and the Itabashi Art Museum in Tokyo.

Alongside her artistic practice, Patricia teaches illustration and visual narrative at universities and cultural institutions in Madrid, Granada and other cities, sharing her long-standing interest in the language of the illustrated book.
